This workshop aims to explore the use of open data to counter political corruption. The Open Government Partnership (OGP) partnered with the Global Data Barometer (GDB) and other organizations to produce one of the first global analyses of the state of political corruption-related data — covering areas such as lobbying, asset disclosure, and public contracts. This workshop will include a presentation of the global challenges and opportunities, based on the findings of this analysis. This will be followed by small group discussions in which participants will explore the newly released data, share lessons from their work, and brainstorm ideas for future research or reforms. Attendees are encouraged to bring laptops to explore the research findings and access the data for their country and region. No special programs are needed and there are no prerequisites other than an interest in anti-corruption, open data, and/or open government.
