Kwang-Hyung Kim
International consultant for agrometeorology at UNDP Georgia
Kwang-Hyung is an associate professor at Seoul National University, South Korea, conducting field-oriented researches and development of climate information services, climate change impact and vulnerability assessment and adaptation strategy, climate smart farming, and early warning for agricultural hazard, pest and disease, and crop and livestock production. His expertise spans agro-ecological modeling, weather and climate modeling, data analytics, and project management. At present, he also serves as an international consultant for agrometeorology for the UNDP-GCF project "Scaling-up Multi-Hazard Early Warning System and the Use of Climate Information in Georgia", where he supports the development of Georgia Climate Services for Agriculture (GECSA) with the national partners, such as Rural Development Agency, National Environmental Agency, Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, National Food Agency, Georgia Farmers’ Association, and other private sectors in Georgia.
Through a decade of international consulting experiences with FAO, UNDP, CIAT, ADB and KOICA, Kwang-Hyung has supported many developing countries to cope with increasing weather/climate variabilities through tailored climate services for agriculture, mostly guiding the development and institutionalization of national-level decision support systems like GECSA.
