Saionara Reis

Team Leader at Danish Institute for Human Rights

Saionara is the Team Leader of the Data for Rights and Development team at the Danish Institute for Human Rights. For her, data is a powerful tool to identify situations of inequity and to monitor and guide the realization of human rights. In her work, Saionara strives to make human rights-relevant data readily available to support planning and programming of sustainable development, including data generated by rightsholders, communities and civil society organizations.

Previously, Saionara was the Head of Office and Representative to the United Nations for Dianova International in New York, where she also worked with UNDP on monitoring and reporting of SDG16. She has experience with NGOs in Ethiopia and Brazil, as well as with governmental institutions, including the former Brazilian Ministry of Women’s Affairs.

Previously, Saionara was also Legal Advisor to the former vice-president of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
